Uttarakhand has overtaken Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh, which came into existence with them, in terms of per capita income. However, in terms of annual budget, it is far behind in comparison to both. Along with Uttarakhand, the central government also created Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand in 2000. After 22 years of travel, if compared, Uttarakhand came ahead in many respects. Whereas, there are many such areas where the state is lagging behind in comparison to these states.
The Economic Survey report of all the three states shows that Uttarakhand has made a huge leap on the per capita income front. The per capita income in the state has exceeded 1 lakh 96 thousand. Chhattisgarh ranks second. There the per capita income is close to 1 lakh 18 thousand. The per capita income in Jharkhand is close to 79 thousand.
Backward in annual budget: If you compare the three states, Uttarakhand is backward in the size of the annual budget compared to both the states. At the time of formation of the state, the annual budget of Uttarakhand was close to 4500 crores, which was slightly more than 65 thousand crores in the current financial year. The budget of Jharkhand was close to 2700 crores during the formation, which has been more than one lakh crores. The first budget of Chhattisgarh was 5700 crores, which became 1 lakh five thousand crores.
Debt position on the state
According to the 2021 report of RBI, Uttarakhand had a debt of 75 thousand 351 crores. Whereas the population of the state was close to one crore 15 lakhs. From this perspective, the state has a debt of more than 65 thousand per person. Chhattisgarh has a total debt of one lakh crore. Its population is two crore 98 lakhs. There is a debt of about 33 thousand per person there. In Jharkhand, a debt of about 27 thousand is made per person.
